Each year, the United States sets aside a day in recognition of the contribution Martin Luther King Jr. made to this country as a civil rights leader.
In Marion County, the United Concerned Citizens Organization has planned a series of activities to commemorate King's legacy.
"We'd like to welcome the community to join together," Maria Bell of the UCCO said.
Bell added that King's civil rights work helped Americans, regardless of race, gender or disability.
