A Veterans Day program has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lebanon National Cemetery.
American Legion Post 49 will host the program, which is also being sponsored by VFW Marple Caldwell Post 5910 and the American Legion Auxiliary.
The Marion County Veterans Honor Guard, Marion County High School ROTC and the Marion County High School band will participate in the program.
Frank "Cat" Peterson will be the guest speaker. Peterson is a farmer and a resident of Marion County. Peterson graduated from St. Charles High School in 1948 and started farming. In 1950, he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. He earned two Bronze Stars during his service, and he attained the rank of sergeant first class during the eight months he served in Korea in 1951 and 1952. He remains an active member of the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Peterson and his wife, Betty, have six children (two of whom are deceased) and 14 grandchildren.
