Walnut Street man gets probation for drug trafficking

Raymond T. Helm, 61, of 123 W. Walnut Street in Lebanon received two years of probation in Marion Circuit Court recently for second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (20 or more dosage units), first offense and prescription controlled substance not in proper container, first offense. He was ordered to pay $175 court costs.

In other circuit court matters:
- David Thomas Brown, 31, of 520 Valley View Court in Lebanon received one year of probation for first-degree possession of a controlled substance second offence. He was ordered to pay $150 court costs, $400 attorney fees and $200 in attorney fees. Charges of driving on DUI suspended license first offense, careless driving and failure to or improper signal were dismissed.
- Grant Sims, 19, of 305 S. Harrison Street in Lebanon received five years of pretrial diversion for third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief. He received two years of probation for theft by unlawful taking. He was ordered to pay restitution of $1,448.97 to Jay Grundy through the Marion County Clerk’s Office.
- Douglas L. Lanham, 21, of 312 Deering Court in Lebanon, received five years of pretrial diversion for third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief. He received two years of probation for theft by unlawful taking, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was ordered to pay restitution of $1,448.97 to Jay Grundy through the Marion County Clerk’s Office.
- Joseph F. Smith, 20, of 206 N. Forest Street, Ice House Apartments, in Lebanon received five year of pretrial diversion on charges of third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief. He received two years of probation for theft by unlawful taking. He was ordered to pay restitution of $1,448.97 to Jay Grundy through the Marion Circuit Clerk’s Office.
- Anthony Tyler Hamilton, 23, of 1175 Rodney Clark Road in Loretto received five years of pretrial diversion for 10 counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. He was ordered to pay restitution of $1,270 to Loretto Foodland, $125 to Corner Food Mart and $700 to Sav-A-Lot through the Marion Circuit Clerk’s Office.
- Daevohn S. Ellery, 18, of 106 Fairground Lane in Springfield received three years of pretrial diversion on charges of second-degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking over $500. He was ordered to pay $1,000 restitution to William Spalding via Marion Circuit Clerk.
- Lanisha Edlin, 22, of 555 Maple Street in Lebanon received one year of pretrial diversion on a charge of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (less than four grams)

Sentencing pending
- Robert L. Calhoun, 47, of 457 Burton Lane in Lebanon pled guilty to facilitation to first-degree assault. His sentencing has been scheduled for June 5. A charge of first-degree persistent felony offender was dismissed.
- Eugene H. Owens, 38, of 237 Mock Avenue in Lebanon pled guilty to second-degree burglary, receiving stolen property (firearm), theft by unlawful taking or disposition, second-degree persistent felony offender and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. A charge of first-degree persistent felony offender was dismissed. His sentencing has been scheduled for May 22.
