In 1789, when our nation’s Constitution was penned, the founding fathers bestowed American citizens with certain rights and liberties that were hard fought for, but needed to establish our great nation. Yet, almost 220 years later, many take for granted one particular privilege that is a foreign concept to numerous other countries. The privilege I’m speaking of is voting. The last presidential election cycle in 2004 saw only 58.3 percent of the total voting population actually participate in the process that has dictated, since its inception, what direction our nation is lead.
