Winners are announced in second annual quilt show

The Marion County Extension Homemaker Association held the second annual Kentucky Bluegrass Quilt Show in conjunction with the Kentucky Bluegrass Music Kickoff on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Marion County High School. The show was more than a success with 81 quilts entered into the show and over 200 people in attendance. Along with the Grand Champion money winners, below are the categorical winners:
• Grand Champion winners: first - “Columbia” by Denise Stewart from Dunnville; second - “Hexagon Whimsy” by Ann Marie Mattingly from Lebanon; third - “Stained Glass” by Leona Lee from Calvary.
• Junior Category (under age 18): first - “Rail Fence” by Gillian Mudd from Lebanon; second - “My First Quilt” by Amber Rose Edlin from Loretto.
• Antique Category: first - Treasured Crazy Quilt, Joan Thomas; second - Great Aunt Tom’s Quilt, Connie Mattingly; third - Dogwood, Jessie Mattingly.
• Applique Category: first - Applique in a Decade, Denise Stewart’ second - Poinsettia, Lavon Wimsatt; third - Prairie Rose, Lavon Wimsatt.
• Baby Quilt Category: first - Garden Fun, Shirley Thomas; second - Addie’s Bliss, Jean Mattingly; third - Good Morning Sunshine, Roberta Donahue.
• Clothing Item Category: first - Winter Storm Jacket, Denise Stewart.
• Cross Stitch Category: first - Snowflake Quilt Cross Stitch, Susan Lee; second - Fan, Elizabeth Wohner; third - Medallions, Shirley Thomas.
• Hand Pieced and Hand Quilted: first - Double Wedding Ring, Martha Potter; second - Tulip, Jean Ann Skaggs; third - Cathedral Window, Joyce Terry
•Machine Pieced and Machine Quilted: first - Double Heart Bargello, Denise Stewart; second - Sunshine Star, Leona Lee; third - Summertime, Leona Zuelly.
• Made by a Group: first - Christmas Sampler, Calvary Quilters; second - Marion County, Marion Co. Homemakers; third - Christmas Multiple Irish Chain, Calvary Quilters
