Winter storm warning in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday

A winter storm warning will be in effect for Marion County and surrounding areas until 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16.

According to the National Weather Servic, light precipitation is expected to start this evening and to gradually pick up intensity. Freezing rain and sleet are possible.

The weather service is anticipating the main impact will be in a stretch from the west of Bowling Green to the Lexington area. Accumulations of ice one-half to one-inch thick are possible.
