    Resigns W.P.A. Post
    L.V. Raley, for the past eight years city and county engineer in the Works Progress Administration program, submitted his resignation to the City Council this week and, with Mrs. Raley, will leave soon for Roanoke, Va., where he will be employed in the federal government’s reforestation program.

    The Lyle-Blackburn Studio, established here a number of years ago by Miss Evelyn Lyle and Mrs. Edward W. Heller, the former Miss Henrietta Blackburn, and located at Main and Spalding over Johnston Beauty Shoppe, has been sold to Wallace M. Kelly, who will open a studio in his own name. He will be assisted in the business by his wife, formerly Miss Mabel Graham, a highly successful amateur photographer in her own right.

    Mr. G.G. Thompson and lady gave the young folks a cotillion party last week which was well attended by both ladies and gentlemen. It proved to be a very enjoyable affair, and would be long remembered by those present if it was not to be followed in quick succession by so many others of the same kind.
