For 24 years, nearly 600 women across Appalachia have been learning they have the strength and courage to finish their education and to build the self-esteem they need to find their potential.   At no cost to them, women who find themselves in transition and are seeking to be inspired and build their confidence are doing just that through the New Opportunity School for Women (NOSW) in Berea.

The Kentucky Cattlemen’s Foundation announced Tuesday of last week that the Marion County Animal Shelter will receive $500 from the Animal Shelter Assistance program. In addition to this funding, the Marion County Cattlemen’s Association donated another $250 to the shelter.
The Animal Shelter Assistance program was funded this year from a donation made by Boyle County cattle farmer Jim Gage. Gage realizes the importance of helping your local animal shelters and knows that both farmers and shelters are in the business of taking care of animals.

Livestock producers who incur eligible livestock losses due to adverse weather conditions may be eligible for compensation for those animals under the Livestock Indemnity Program at their Farm Service Center.
The Livestock Indemnity Program provides assistance to livestock owners and contract growers who experience livestock death losses in excess of normal mortality due to adverse weather events. Heat is one of those adverse weather events.
