  • Blands will celebrate golden anniversary

     

    Frank and Shirley Bland will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on May 4, 2013. The couple was married May 4, 1963 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church by Rev. John T. Spalding.
    Mrs. Bland is the former Shirley Hamilton. They have four children, Ginny Branstrator, Denise Bland, Brenda Carter and John Bland; and nine grandchildren.

    Donald and Betty Mattingly announce the engagement and forthcoming wedding of their daughter, Julia Mattingly, to Jimmy Livers, son of Joe Livers and Sylvia Marcum.
    The wedding will be held at 2 p.m. May 4, 2013, at Sportsman Lake with a reception immediately following.
     

  • Bright ends basic training

     

    PFC Dylan Bright graduated basic training from Fort Jackson, S.C. on April 11, 2013 and will move on to AIT training at the same army base.
    Bright is a 2012 graduate of Marion County High School. While in high school he was a member of the Jr. ROTC for the entire four years. He will return to his studies and ROTC at Eastern Kentucky University when AIT training is complete.
    He is the son of Robert and Lisa Bright of Loretto. His grandparents are Viella and Anna Mattingly of Loretto and Sam and Donna Smothers of Lebanon.
     

  • Hamilton wins contest

    Chris Hamilton won the Aurora, Ill., Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals recent “tips for success” competition.
    During the Young Professionals’ annual gathering, participants were given two minutes to answer the question, “What tips did you follow to be successful in your business/career?”
    Hamilton responded:
    1. Don’t try to be perfect. Be confident and move forward with conviction.
    2. Do the homework. Prepare. Prepare. Prepare. Did I say prepare?

    James and Mareese Sanders Jr. announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Contessa Sanders, to Timothy Douglas, son of Donnie Johnson Sr. and Janette (Melvin) Porter.
    Sanders is a 2003 graduate of Marion County High School and is employed by Cornerstone To Learning.
    Douglas is employed by TGKY.
    The wedding will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Woodlawn Baptist Church, Lebanon. A reception will immediately follow the ceremony.
    Formal invitations have been sent.
