  • Taking a fall can be scary at any age, but for senior adults a fall can lead to serious and sometimes devastating consequences.  Falls are the leading cause of death from unintentional injuries among older adults and the leading cause of traumatic brain injury among Kentucky residents age 65 and older.  
    According to the Center for Disease Control, the death rates from falls among older men and women have risen sharply over the past decade.

  • Monday, Sept. 15: Baked ham, baked sweet potato, black-eyed peas, mandarin oranges, cornbread.
    Tuesday, Sept. 16: Beef pot roast, gravy, mashed potatoes, carrots, pineapple mousse, whole wheat roll.
    Wednesday, Sept. 17: Barbecue chicken, corn, marinate cucumbers, tomatoes and onions, watermelon, whole wheat roll.
    Thursday, Sept. 18: Closed.
    Friday, Sept. 19: Salmon patty, baby lima beans, salad, coleslaw, brownie, cornbread.
    All meals served with skim milk.
     

  • Class of 1974
    The MCHS Class of 1974 will have their 40-year reunion at 7 p.m. Sept. 13 at Lebanon Knights of Columbus Hall, South Spalding Avenue. Finger foods and soft drinks will be provided. For more information, contact Aileen Thompson, 270-692-3021.

    Caleb and Stephanie Bland announce the birth of a 7-pound, 3-ounce daughter, Ava Sophia Bland, born Aug. 13, 2014 at Spring View Hospital, Lebanon.
    Maternal grandparents are Gayle Wise Carrico of Lebanon and the late Michael Carrico. Paternal grandparents are Roger and Peggy Bland of Campbellsville. Great-grandparents are Pauline Wise and Valta Bland of Campbellsville.
    Ava Sophia has one brother, Noah  Ethan Bland.

    Mark and Cindy Mercer of Bardstown announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Megan Elizabeth Mercer, to Patrick Clinton Miles, son of Donnie and Nancy Miles of St. Francis.
    Mercer is employed at Bardstown Florist.
    Miles is employed in the maintenance department of Jim Beam.
    The wedding will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Raywick, with a reception to follow at St. Francis Activity Center.

    Lynn Johnson of Loretto announces the forthcoming marriage of her daughter, JoAnna Johnson, to Jason Filiatreau, son of Judy Filiatreau of Springfield and the late Joe Bernard Filiatreau.
    Johnson is the daughter of the late John W. Johnson.  She is employed at Farmers National Bank, Lebanon.
    Filiatreau is employed at Montgomery Contracting.
    The wedding will take place at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at Centre Square, Lebanon. A reception will follow the ceremony.
    All friends and family are invited.
