  • Baked spaghetti luncheon rescheduled
    The Lebanon United Methodist Women are sponsoring a baked spaghetti meal on Sunday, March 1 at Lebanon United Methodist Church to support their Thailand Mission Project. The meal includes baked spaghetti, salad, bread and dessert. Carryout meals will be available starting at 9:30 a.m. Dine-in will begin at 11:45 a.m. For more information, contact Katherine Gordon, 270-699-5788.

  • Easter is on the way, and practicing Christians across the globe have spent the Lenten season preparing for the day when they celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Lent is a season best spent in the company of close friends and family, and the following are a few ways for Christians to celebrate their faith in the weeks leading up to Easter Sunday.

  • Attorney General Jack Conway, Commissioner of Agriculture James Comer, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes and several state lawmakers spent the morning at the Capitol Rotunda Wednesday rallying Kentuckians to join the fight against hunger.
    According to the USDA, one in six Kentuckians is food-insecure, meaning they lack consistent access to enough food for a healthy, active lifestyle.

    Mr. and Mrs. David Mattingly will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 20, 2015. They were married on that date 50 years ago at Holy Name of Mary Church in Calvary. They are now members of St. Charles Church.
    Mr. Mattingly is a retired farmer. Mrs. Mattingly is the former Rita Thomas and is retired from Marion County Farm Bureau.
    They have four children, John, Marty, and David Mattingly, and Beth Lang; and 14 grandchildren.
    A family cruise is planned for later in the spring.

    Chris and Crystal Spalding of Lebanon announce the birth of a 7-pound, 13-ounce son, Calvin Glen Spalding, born Jan. 21, 2015 at Spring View Hospital, Lebanon.
    Maternal grandparents are Billy and Joyce Warner of Lebanon. Paternal grandparents are Cecelia Spalding of Lebanon and the late John A. Spalding.
    Calvin Glen has a brother, Collin, and two sisters, Madelynn and Cheyenne.

    Collin Spalding will celebrate his 4th birthday on Feb. 11, 2015. He is the son of Chris and Crystal Spalding.
    His grandparents are Billy and Joyce Warner and Cecilia Spalding and the late John A. Spalding.
    Collin has a brother, Calvin, and two sisters, Madelynn and Cheyenne.
     

  • The deadline to sign up for the thistle spray program in Marion County for 2015 is March 1. You must sign up online for this program this year. For more information or help in signing up, contact the Marion County Extension Office, 270-692-2421. The state will only spray for a total of seven farms in Marion County.
