    Johnny Walls and Sandy Ryan announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Kristin Walls, to Steven Thomas, son of John Thomas and Brenda Watson.
    Walls is a 2008 graduate of Marion County High School.
    Thomas is a 2004 graduate of Marion County High School.
    The wedding is set for 7 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012 at Bradfordsville United Methodist Church. A reception will follow at the K.C. Hall, Lebanon.

    Steve and Judy Thompson will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on June 23, 2012. The family will attend Mass at 5 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fredricktown, where they were married on June 23, 1962. They have eight children: Stephen, Michael, Paul, Bill, Alex and Edwin Thompson, Catherine Mattingly and Carole Bryan.

    Ben and Jessica Riley of Lebanon announce the birth of a 5-pound, 11-ounce son, Bentley Jamison Riley, born May 16, 2012, at Spring View Hospital, Lebanon.
    Maternal grandparents are Carl and Holly Mattingly of Seymour, Ind. and Les and Denise Collins of Springfield.
    Paternal grandparents are Everett ‘Hop’ Riley of Springfield and the late Rita Riley.

    There will be an AG Development Council meeting at 7 p.m., June 14, at the Marion County Extension Office. For more information, call the extension office or contact Harry Young.
     
    Beef producers
    There will be a beef producers meeting at 7 p.m., June 14, at the Floral Hall Building on the Marion County Fairgrounds. At this meeting there will be sign-ups for working at the 2012 Marion County Fair and for the fall trip.

  • Gospel concert
    The 2012 Rosenwald Reunion Committee will be holding a gospel concert at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at the First Baptist Church located on Depot Street. Featured singers will be the voices of First Baptist Church of Lebanon, Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Josephine Sickles of Springfield, Smith Sisters of Campbellsville, William P. Dunigan of Frankfort and several others.

  • Unemployed veterans aged 35 - 60 may qualify for up to 12 months of job training through the new Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP). VRAP will provide training for programs of education that lead to a high-demand occupation. The program, a joint effort of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Labor, will start July 1, 2012.
