    Demetrice and Tiffany Logan of Springfield announce the birth of an 8-pound, 10-ounce son, Demetrice Lyndon Logan, born April 4, 2011, at Spring View Hospital, Lebanon.
    Maternal grandparents are Sandra L. Gribbins and Larry Wayne, both of Lebanon.
    Paternal grandparents are Nellie Logan of Lebanon and Billy Logan of Versailles.
    Great-grandmother is Margaret Grimes of Lebanon.
    Demetrice Lyndon has one brother, Qwaun, and eight sisters, Destiney, Shaylin, Aubrey, Megan, Trinity, Shamir, Shamica and Jerrica.

  • Army National Guard Pvt. Thomas H. Thornton II has graduated from the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) Crewmember Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
    The course is designed to train the crew member in launch operations of various missiles and ammunition in quick strikes during combat. The student was trained to perform maintenance in various launchers and re-supply vehicles and reload ammunition on these type vehicles.

    Maddie Wiser celebrated her 5th birthday April 26, 2011. She is the daughter of Daniel and Brandy Wiser. Grandparents are Russ and Bonnie Wiser, Donna Wiser, Dwight and Jenny Bruce and Rita Lynn. She has one brother, Travis Wiser.

    Todd and Cindy Mattingly of 1390 St. Rose Lebanon Road, Springfield, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth, to Robbie Smith, son of Bobby and Crystal Smith of 544 Smith Road, Springfield.
    Mattingly is pursuing a master’s degree in communication disorders at Western Kentucky University.
    Smith graduated from Western Kentucky University in May 2009. He is a project engineer for BBD Corp. Inc.
    The wedding is set for 6:30 p.m. May 21, 2011, at St. Dominic Church in Springfield.

  • Faithful Citizenship luncheon
    “Charity and Citizenship:  What’s the Connection?” is the topic of the Faithful Citizenship luncheon to be held at noon May 17, 2011 in Flaget Hall at the Basilica of St Joseph Proto-Cathedral, 5th and W. Stephen Foster in Bardstown.
    The event is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Louisville Catholic Charities’ Parish Social Ministry Department and is free and open to the public. Those who attend are encouraged to bring a brown-bag lunch; drinks will be provided.
