  • Here are a couple of delicious Texas recipes I got from my Aunt Marge years ago.

The Texas Caviar is a terrific salsa-like dip that I guarantee your guests will love. Serve it with tortilla chips, corn or flour, and you'll be surprised how quickly it disappears.

The Southwestern Casserole is easy and delicious, a real family-pleaser.

  • Chester, a Pomeranian mix, is almost 1 year old. He will be very loyal and protective of his owner. Chester is crate trained and loves to play but would not be good around small children.

  • I just came in with a basket of vegetables from the garden.

I have some good ripe tomatoes and some beautiful green peppers, so I'm definitely making fresh salsa.

I got a decent mess of beans, the purple ones that turn green when you cook them.

And, of course, I also have a few more zucchini.

The Fresh Salsa I make is super easy and delicious, great on tortilla chips, or accompanying grilled meat, tacos, etc. I also like it used as a dressing on lettuce for a great salad.

  • Jasmine is a 2-year-old Rat Terrier mix that is looking for a new home.

She will need a little help with housebreaking, but she is a fast learner and will make a great pet for anyone looking for a pet to curl up with on the couch.  She may not do well with small children as she does not care for being grabbed at or her face being touched too much. Jasmine is spayed and current on all of her shots, this makes her adoption fee only $25.

  • I've had several people call and ask me what to do with an over-abundance of zucchini or yellow squash. This is a common problem for gardeners-it happens every year.

Even though I've scaled back my zucchini to four plants, I also have more than I can eat fresh.

If you want to freeze the excess, you can. The easiest way is to shred the zucchini, drain and pack in one-cup portions to use in bread, cookies, etc.

  • The City of Bardstown, Nelson County Fiscal Court and the Bardstown Industrial Development Corporation are pleased to announce that SYKES Enterprises will operate their newest state-of-the-art call center in Bardstown.

SYKES Enterprises, headquartered in Tampa, Fla., will operate a call center for a major telecommunication company in the Kentucky Home Square Shopping Center in the site formerly home to Winn Dixie.

  • Preliminary statistics indicate that eight people died in eight separate crashes on Kentucky roadways during the four-day July 4th Holiday period, Thursday, July 2 (6 p.m.) through Sunday, July 5, (11:59 p.m.)

Four of the fatalities involved motor vehicles and none of those victims were wearing seat belts. Motor vehicle crashes occurred in Bullitt, Clark, Davies and Mercer counties. Two of the crashes involved the suspected use of alcohol.
