    Kyle Evans Burkhead and Patricia Diane Weakley announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
    Weakley is the daughter of Diane and Donnie Morgeson of Lebanon and the late Clarence Weakley.
    Burkhead is the son of Ethelynn Angulo of  Lexington and Bruce and Kay Burkhead of Springfield.
    The wedding is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Mackville Baptist Church.
    A reception will follow at the Marion County Sportsmanís Club off of Campbellsville Highway.
    All family and friends are invited to attend.

  • The theme for the 2012 Window Decorating Contest is “Marion County...the crossroads of good spirits & hospitality”. Your window should reflect this theme.
    Have your windows decorated by Monday, Sept. 17. If your business is located outside the Lebanon downtown area, contact the chamber to let them know you will be participating.
    The winner will receive $50 and a certificate for the best decorated window. The winner will be announced on Monday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m.

  • Bishop William F. Medley of the Diocese of Owensboro and Bishop Charles “Chuck” Thompson of the Diocese of Evansville, Ind., will be celebrating a special Mass at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at St. Francis of Assisi in honor of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Sisters of Loretto. A reception will take place in the parish hall after the Mass.


  • Contemplative Prayer Day
    St. Catharine Motherhouse will hold its monthly Contemplative Prayer Day on Sept. 15, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The day is focused on centering prayer and silence. Everyone is welcome. Bring a bag lunch. Cost:  donation. For more information, call Sr. Mary Otho Ballard,op , (859) 284-5201.

    Bible School Day Camp

  • It’s time to clear the air! On Sept. 18, the Marion County and Washington County health departments will host the “Cooper/Clayton Method to Become a Non-Smoker,” a 13-week comprehensive program. Classes will be held on Tuesday nights at 5:30 p.m. at the Washington County Health Department.
    These workshops have been conducted all over Kentucky over the past several years and have been very successful. Anyone who wants to stop smoking is invited to participate.


    Mr. and Mrs. Joseph S. Leake, Lebanon, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married Sept. 8, 1962 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. The couple has four children, Jody Leake, Teresa Hunt, Tresine Callahan and Jessica Adams. They have 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
