Jane Bell, 65, started gardening last year, and she has enjoyed every minute of it. She also started canning vegetables, which allowed her to eat them throughout the winter.

Jane Bell isn’t afraid to try new things.
Last year, that included taking up gardening for the first time at the age of 64.
“Really it has been a wonderful opportunity,” she said.
After having some health issues and retiring from the Marion County Detention Center, Bell jumped into gardening with both feet. She said she’s fortunate to have several friends who helped her get started with container gardening.
“The more I did the more I got interested in it,” she said.
