    Alma Jean Wright Wiser, 77, Bradfordsville, died June 10, 2008, in Louisville after an illness.

    Born Jan. 23, 1931, in Bradfordsville, Wiser was a member of New Life Christian Church and a charter member of the Bradfordsville Volunteeer Fire Department.

    She was preceded in death by: her parents, Lewis Thomas and Mary Eliza Wheeler Wright; two brothers, Paul and Lewis T. "Bussie" Wright; one sister, Lucy Hayes Wright Hollon; and two granddaughters, Tammy Renee Wiser and Barbie Lynette Raley.

    Born Aug. 3, 1934, in Washington County, Wimsatt formerly worked at Murphy Manufacturing Cabinet Company in Louisville.

    He was preceded in death by: his father, William Thomas Wimsatt; mother, Mary Agatha Newton Wimsatt; three sisters, Evelyn Wimsatt and infants Mary Alice and Dorothy May Wimsatt; seven brothers, Herman, Irvin, Earl, James Herbert, Tony and Leonard Wimsatt and infant Gerald Wimsatt.

    Joseph Lawrence Blandford, 95, Lebanon, died May 20, 2008, at the Village of Lebanon Nursing Center.

    Born May 16, 1913, in Marion County, Blandford was a retired farmer.

    He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Dorothy Willett Blandford; second wife, Anna Blaine Rice Blandford; parents, John Martin and Lyda O'Daniel Blandford; a son, Joseph Lawrence Blandford Jr.; a daughter, Frances Blandford; three brothers, Edward, Rueben and Clarence Blandford; and four sisters, Nora O'Sullivan, Sister Margaret Vincent Blandford, Sister Eula Blandford and Elizabeth Greenwell.

    Carl Wright, 50, Finley, died May 31, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in Louisville after an accident.

    Born July 4, 1957, Wright was a farmer and member of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church in Finley.

    He was preceded in death by: his parents, Joseph Bernard and Amelia Pearl Clarkson Wright; and a grandson, Isiah Jo Wright.

    Born Dec. 14, 1925, in Washington County, Hurrigan had worked at Springfield Redrying Company and was a member of Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.

    She was preceded in death by: her husband, George Thomas Hurrigan; parents, John Keene and Stella Thompson; four brothers, Joe Will, Felix, John Jr. and Dick Keene; one sister, Mary Ruth Keene; two great-grandsons, Davon Montrei Montgomery and Jonathan Walker Mayberry.

    Rita Viola Gootee Mullins, 76 New Castle, died Sunday, June 1, 2008 at Baptist East Hospital, Louisville.

    Mullins was born on Sept. 18,1931, in Marion County.

    She was preceded in death by: her husband, Kenneth Harold Mullins; parents, Richard Henry and Mary Rose Newton Gootee; a son, Alan Jackson Mullins; two brothers, Joseph and Louis Earl Gootee; and six sisters, Mary Bertha Alford, Sarah Louise Page, Mary Elizabeth Popham, Margaret Evelyn Popham, Mary Rita Gootee and Mary Omijean Gereau.

    Brother Brian Lyon, C.S.C., 90, Columbia Hall, Notre Dame, Ind., died at 10 p.m. June 3, 2008 at Dujarie House, Holy Cross Village, in Notre Dame, Ind.

    Originally from Loretto, he entered the Holy Cross Brothers, Notre Dame, Ind., in 1942. He served most of his religious life in the India Missions.

    He was preceded in death by: his parents, Joseph Herbert Lyon and Mabel Cambron Lyon; a sister, Grace Lyon Mattingly; and a brother, Henry Lyon, Sr.

    Born Aug. 29, 1934, in Nelson County, Gibbs was a homemaker.

    She was preceded in death by: her husband, James David Gibbs Sr.; a son, Joseph Wayne Culver; father, Michael Orville Culver; mother, Mary Catherine Bryant Culver; a sister, Mary Agnes DeWitt; four brothers, Joseph, James, Robert & an infant, William Culver; and a grandson, Joshua Keith Lyvers.

    Frances Bright Mann, Louisville, died June 4, 2008.

    Formerly of Campbellsville, Mann was a retired certified nurse assistant for Britthaven Nursing Home.

    She was preceded in death by: her husband, C.L. Mann; a son, Tommy Mann; parents, Marshall Bright and Coya Mae Routine Bright; four sisters, Lucy Spurling, Geneva Gadberry, Inez Bright and Judy Marvell Bright; three brothers, Carl, Horace and George Graham Bright.

    Survivors include: a son, J.R. Mann; and four grandchildren.

  • Joseph Paul Buckman, 85

    Joseph Paul Buckman, 85, Fresno, Calif., died May 29, 2008.

    Formerly of Calvary, Buckman served in the Navy during World War II and was on the D.S.S. Maryland at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked by the Japanese. He retired after 20 years of service.

    He was preceded in death by: his parents, Lee and Ollie Buckman; and a sister, Corine Luckett.
