    James E. Kessler, 78, Campbellsville, died at 9:35 a.m. March 16, 2008, in Tampa, Fla.

    Born July 8, 1929, in Green County, Kessler was a Christian, farmer and farm implement dealer.

    He was preceded in death by: his parents, Elwood Kessler and Hallie Mae Risen Kessler; and one brother, Harold G. Kessler.

    Survivors include: his wife, Helen Kessler of Campbellsville and Zephyrhills, Fla.; two daughters, Donna Davis and Tammy Cox, both of Campbellsville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

  • Richard Matthew Derringer, 65

    Richard Matthew Derringer, 65, Loretto, died at 6:45 a.m. March 19, 2008, at his residence.

    Born March 4, 1943 in Washington County, Derringer retired from General Electric Company in Louisville. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

    He was preceded in death by: his father, William Mark Derringer; mother, Anna Elizabeth Nalley; a sister, Alice Marie Derringer; and two brothers, Joe and Jerry Derringer.

    Carlos Leo Humphrey, 70, Loretto, died at 6:30 p.m. March 19, 2008, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

    Born Oct. 17, 1937 in Nelson County, Humphrey was the owner and operator of the Loretto Butcher Shop.

    He was preceded in death by: his father, James Lillard Humphrey; mother, Bonnie Belle LaFollette Humphrey; and a brother, James Curtis "J.C." Humphrey.

    Carrie Lou Elliott Rinehart, 66, Springfield, died at 6:55 a.m. March 12, 2008, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

    Born Feb. 21, 1942, in Marin County, Rinehart was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church.

    She was preceded in death by: her parents, John Henry and Sara Annie Hall Elliott; two sisters, Corine Akins and Lottie Mae Simpson; and two brothers, John Henry and Frank Elliott.

  • Francis Fabian Mattingly, 69

    Francis Fabian Mattingly, 69, Bardstown, died at 7:30 p.m. March 12, 2008, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.

    Born May 13, 1938, in Nelson County, Mattingly was a veteran of the United States Navy and former employee of Burroughs Corporation in Bardstown.

    He was preceded in death by: his father, Francis Cleophas Mattingly; and mother, Mary Madonna Smith Mattingly.

  • Dorothy L. Murphy Harrell, 84

    Dorothy L. Murphy Harrell, 84, Okolona, Louisville, died March 8, 2008, at the Baptist Home East, Louisville.

    Harrell was a member of Okolona Baptist Church.

    She was preceded in death by: her first husband, Milford Melvin Richmond; her second husband, Wayland Harrell; a daughter, Martha Ziady; parents, William Murphy and Tressie Humphreys; stepfather, Lester Humphreys; and three brothers, Julian Donald, William Steven and Jerry Roland Murphy.

    Survivors include: her son, George Stevens Richmond; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

    Ben W. Crume, 92, Louisville, died March 16, 2008.

    Born June 2, 1916, in Atlanta, Ga., Crume was earned a Bronze Star during World War II, was a retired secretary/treasurer for the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad and volunteered as a tax preparer for the AART. He was a Catholic.

    He was preceded in death by: his parents, Mary Morgan Crume and Ben W. Crume Sr.; and a brother, Tom M. Crume.

    Survivors include: his wife, Evelyn Goodin Crume.

  • Isabell Riley Cook, 82

    Isabell Riley Cook, 82, Lebanon, died March 11, 2008, after an illness.

    Cook was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

    She was preceded in death by: her husband, Thomas Milford Carol Cook; and parents, John and Venia Mullins Riley.

    Survivors include: five brothers, Raymond C. and Amos Riley, both of Lebanon, James Wesley Riley of Florida and John R. and Cleo Riley, both of Texas; three sisters, Virginia Arnold and Susie Daugherty, both of Lebanon, and Ann Willard of Gravel Switch.
