• Academic team competes in JV Challenge

    Marion County High School’s JV Academic Team competed in the KAAC sponsored JV Challenge on Nov. 10 at LaRue County High School.
    Students competed in written assessments in mathematics, science, social studies, language arts, and arts and humanities against teams from Bardstown, Bethlehem, Danville, Elizabethtown, LaRue County and Washington County High schools. In addition, there was a written composition portion of the event held on Nov. 1. Overall, the team finished in fourth place.

  • Notification plan in place for delays and cancellations

    Marion County Public Schools will make every effort to announce any cancellation of school, delay in the school day, early dismissal or other change in the school daily schedule by no later than 6 a.m. of that day.
    In emergency circumstances requiring immediate notification of MCPS employees, students, parents and community, the MCPS One Call Now Phone Information System will be utilized. In a matter of minutes, a recorded phone message will go to each registered home/business/industry phone number or cell phone number.

    Monday, Nov. 26: Whole grain chocolate chip muffin and toast or assorted cereal and toast, variety of juice, milk.
    Tuesday, Nov. 27; Assorted Poptart and two toast or assorted cereal and two toast, variety of juice or banana, milk.
    Wednesday, Nov. 28: Egg and cheese breakfast burrito w/salsa and toast or assorted cereal and toast, variety of juice, milk.
    Thursday, Nov. 29: Biscuit and sausage or assorted cereal and toast, variety of juice, milk.

    The following West Marion Elementary students earned the honor roll and perfect attendance for the first nine weeks of the 2012-13 school year.

    • Grade 3 - Summer Blanford, Lizzie Daugherty, Jesse J. Essex, Jasmine Farmer, Keaton Riggs, Bella Spalding, Tyler Wilkerson, and Jake Thomas.

  • Workshop will be held Nov. 28

    There will be a financial aid workshop at the Marion County High School Library on Wednesday, Nov. 28, beginning at 6 p.m.
    Jo Newton, our Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority representative, will go over the correct way to complete the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
    Senior parents are encouraged to attend. Charity Ferguson, a financial aid representative, will conduct two more workshops on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. and on Wednesday, Jan. 9.
