  • Public hearing to be held Aug. 31 for school tax rates

    The 2011-12 school tax rates for real estate and personal property are likely to increase four percent, but county residents will have an opportunity to voice their opinions during a public hearing at the Marion County Board of Education Wednesday, Aug. 31.

    UK School of Library and Information Science is pleased to announce the following students have been awarded scholarship money for the upcoming fall semester. Once again, the number of qualified applicants exceeded the available funds.

  • Reunion is this weekend

    The Bethlehem Alumni Committee and Bethlehem High School will host the Second Annual Reunion Weekend August 5-6, 2011 at Bethlehem High School in Bardstown.
    Friday night there will be a reception for any alumni who graduated in a year ending in a “1” or a “6”.  The reception begins at 6:30 in the cafeteria.  
    Saturday at 12:30 there will be a luncheon for the 1961 class to celebrate their 50th graduation year. This will be held in the Sr. Mary Rachel Rooks Library.  Reservations requested.

    Friday, Lucia "Luci" Smith, 5, of Lebanon, along with hundreds of other youngsters, will begin her first day of school.

    She's going to be in Pam Mattingly's kindergarten class at Lebanon Elementary School. But until then, she'll enjoy her last few days of summer.

    She fidgets on the couch, clutching her mother's shirt tightly as she whispers into her ear. In her other hand, she holds a set of car keys, which she twirls between her fingers.
