  • MCPS Writing Spotlight

Marion County Public Schools will be featuring a student “Writing Spotlight” each week. • Tracking progress

Superintendent Taylora Schlosser reviews the goals for the school district during each regular meeting of the Marion County Board of Education.
One of the goals is for all students in every school to receive a comparable education. This is a priority for the Kentucky Department of Education as well.
"Basically, it charges site-based councils and boards to actually look at different groups of kids to make sure that every group is performing at a high level," Schlosser said.

  • Board, MCHS council discuss preparation, bullying

The Marion County Board of Education took time out of its Jan. 22 meeting to talk with the Marion County High School Site-Based Decision Making Council.
Board member Jerry Evans said he was excited to hear Principal Mike Abell report earlier in the meeting that 110 seniors have met the standards for college or career readiness.
Abell added that the goal is to have more than 150 students reach that mark by the end of the school year.
"I'll be very disappointed if we don't get there," Abell said.
