  • Scholarship opportunity announced

    Inter-County Energy recognizes the importance of educating our young adults today for tomorrow’s leadership roles.
    For that reason, Inter-County Energy will award a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior, from each of the cooperatives six director’s districts.  Those districts are Lincoln, Garrard, Mercer, Boyle, Casey and Marion counties.
    Students are encouraged to apply if their parent or legal guardian is a member of Inter-County Energy Cooperative with their primary residence being served by the cooperative.

  • Schools will have 2-hour delay Thursday

    The Marion County Public School System has issued a two-hour delay for Thursday due to the Lady Knights basketball game at the state tournament in Bowling Green Wednesday evening. School will begin Thursday at 10:25 a.m.

  • Minority parent needed for Superintendent Search Screening Committee

    The Marion County Public School System is in need of a minority parent to be on the Superintendent Search Screening Committee.

    So far, the committee consists of the following individuals:

    - Ed Hacker – board representative

    - Brad Mattingly – parent representative

    - Marilu Farnham - teacher representative (Glasscock Elementary School)

    - Hollie Buckman – teacher representative (Lebanon Middle School)

  • Marion County Conservation District
  • GES gets book donation

    Wilbooks and author Bruce Larkin have sent a donation of 300 books to A.C. Glasscock Elementary School. The books, meant for classroom reading instruction, are the first delivery of the 25,000 books Larkin has pledged to donate to Kentucky schools this year.
    Glasscock had previously applied for a donation from Wilbooks, and was one of five schools in Kentucky chosen to kick off the 2011 donation campaign.
