    The following Calvary Elementary School students earned the honor roll for the second nine weeks of the 2015-16 school year.

  • The early learner

    When a child is born, the last thing on parents’ minds is their baby’s first day of school.
    In fact, many parents try not to think about it because it’s a sign that their baby boy or girl is growing up.
    But, preparing for that day is crucial to a child’s development, and the Marion County Public School System is making some changes and trying some new initiatives to try and reach children long before they walk into school on their first day.

    Monday, Feb. 8: French toast with maple syrup and toast or assorted cereal and toast, apple, pineapple chunks, juice, and milk.
    Tuesday, Feb. 9: whole grain chocolate chip muffin and toast or assorted cereal and toast, orange wedges, peaches, juice, and milk.
    Wednesday, Feb. 10: bacon, egg slider and toast or assorted cereal and toast, pear slices, grape cluster, juice, and milk.
    Thursday, Feb. 11: sausage breakfast pizza and toast or assorted cereal and toast, fruit cocktail, applesauce, juice and milk.

  • Dean’s award, dean’s and president’s lists announced

    Eastern Kentucky University has announced dean’s award, dean’s and president’s list recipients for the fall 2015 semester.
    Dean’s Award recipients include: Abby Catherine Hamilton and Anna Bailey Spalding, both of Lebanon.

  • MCHS football coach resigns

    Corey Crume, Marion County High School head football coach, has resigned effective immediately.
    According to an email from Superintendent Taylora Schlosser, Crume has accepted a position to coach football at Kentucky State University. He has submitted a letter of resignation for his teaching position as the high school's in-school detention teacher and as the school's head football coach.
    "I would like to wish Coach Crume the best and appreciate his work for the 2015-2016 school year," Schlosser wrote in her email.

  • MCHS teacher, band director resigns

    Curtis Bennett, a teacher and band director at Marion County High School, has officially resigned.
    Bennett, 33, of Buffalo was arrested Jan. 6 by Marion County Sheriff Deputies after an investigation found evidence of inappropriate activity between Bennett and a female student. The criminal complaint states that the inappropriate activity took place on Dec. 26. Additional charges are expected, according to Marion County Sheriff Jimmy Clements.
