  • Nine students named Sen. Jeff Green Scholars

    Nine 2013 graduates of Marion County High School have been named Senator Jeff Green Scholars by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) for outstanding academic performance in high school. Students earn this designation by achieving a 4.0 grade point average each year of high school and scoring at least a 28 composite on the ACT.
    Local students who earned this prestigious designation are Jeffrey Gootee, Abigail Hagan, Mary Hamilton, Abigail Heck, Haberlin Roberts, Anne Sandusky, Charles Shofner, Lauren Thim and Hannah Wilson.

  • MCPS is ‘proficient and progressing’

    There is reason for the Marion County Public School District to be excited today with the release of statewide test results, which show that MCPS has improved from a “needs improvement” district to a “proficient and progressing” district. Compared to other schools in the state, the district made a big jump from the 60th percentile to the 83rd percentile.

  • Lebanon resident receives white coat

    Madison Beach, a first-year student at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, participated in the White Coat Ceremony held on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 in UK’s Memorial Hall.  

  • Lebanon native receives award from UK College of Agriculture

    Brett Childers, was awarded one of the two 2013 College of Agriculture, Food and Environment Outstanding Staff Awards in the Technician/Paraprofessional category. 

    He has worked for BAE since 2005, starting in a technical position assisting Dr. Larry Wells on a tobacco research project. 

    In 2011, he was promoted to his current position as an engineer technician senior in the agricultural machinery research lab.

  • Marching Knights

    The Marion County Marching Knights were named the grand champion at the Russell High School Marching Invitational on Sept. 7. This was the first time since 2009 that the Marching Knights  have been a grand champion in a Kentucky Music Educators Association event. Marion County also competed in the Taylor County Marching Invitational on Saturday. The Marching Knights finished third overall and first in Class 4A. The Marching Knight also had the Best Guard in 4A.
