    Paula Walston’s love for books began before she could even read.
    She vividly remembers sitting with her grandfather as a little girl and “picture reading” to him.
    But, what she didn’t realize at the time was that her grandfather was doing the exact same thing.

  • Scholarship will be awarded to local graduating senior

    Inter-County Energy recognizes the importance of educating our young adults today for tomorrow’s leadership roles.
    For that reason, Inter-County Energy will award one, $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from each of the cooperatives six director’s districts. Those districts are: Lincoln, Garrard, Mercer, Boyle, Casey and Marion counties.
    Students are encouraged to apply if their parent or legal guardian is a member of Inter-County Energy Cooperative with their primary residence being served by the cooperative.

    Wednesday, Feb. 20: Scrambled eggs and two toast or assorted cereal and two toast, grapes, variety of juice, milk.
    Thursday, Feb. 21: Milk gravy and biscuit or cereal and toast, orange wedges, variety of juice, milk.
    Friday, Feb. 22: Warm cinnamon roll and toast or assorted cereal and toast, peach cup, variety of juice, milk.

    The following Western Kentucky University students from the Marion County area were named to the dean’s and president’s lists for the fall 2012 semester.
    The following full-time undergraduate students with a semester grade-point average of 3.4 to 3.79 are named to the dean’s list: Miranda K. Livers, Thomas H. Carrico, James C. Brahm, and Taylor A. Howard, all of Lebanon; and Margaret L. Ballard, Amanda E. Thomas, and Morgan R. Whitlock, all of Loretto.

  • President’s and dean’s lists announced

    Eastern Kentucky University has announced that 1,224 students earned president’s and dean’s list honors for the fall 2012 semester.
    The president’s list includes:
    • Brandon Paul Coffman of Bradfordsville, a sophomore communication studies major.
    • Bryan Caleb Clark of Lebanon, a freshman agriculture major.
    • Charles Larry Hamilton of Lebanon, a senior middle grade education major.
    • Jennifer Lynn Reynolds of Lebanon, a junior paralegal science major.
