  • SBDM Council nominations being accepted

    Marion County High School SBDM Council is currently accepting nominations for a minority parent representative to serve one year on the council at Marion County High School. Any minority parent with a child attending Marion County High School during the 2016-2017 school year is eligible to run for SBDM.
    If you would like to nominate a minority candidate for SBDM (including yourself), return your nomination form to the school’s office by Friday, April 22.

  • Local students participating in youth actors theater

     

    Two Marion County High School students are currently participating in the Central Kentucky Youth Actors Theater in Springfield. They performed “Happy Days” this weekend, and they will be performing again at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

  • Junior Mister is April 23

    The 11th Annual Junior Mister Show will take place at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 23, in the Marion County High School gymnasium. Sixteen young men will compete for the title of Junior Mister. This year's theme is James Bond, and all proceeds for the show will go to Kosair Children's Hospital, the Marion County Autism Awareness Center and the Marion County Animal Shelter. Advanced tickets will be $5 and may be purchased in the MCHS lobby from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., April 20-22. Tickets at the door will be $7.
     

  • Dreaming big

    Marion County Public School’s third annual Spring Summit was a night devoted to celebrating the school district’s successes, showcasing its student talent and continuing to get feedback from the community.
    To kick off the evening, MCPS staff excitedly debuted the district’s new Dream Bus, which will serve as a traveling learning lab and also provide meals to children during the summer.
    “So many kids will benefit from the Dream Bus,” Marion County Superintendent Taylora Schlosser said.

    Marion County Public Schools will be featuring a student “Writing Spotlight”. Student writing samples from the on demand assessment grades (fifth, sixth, eighth, 10th and 11th) will be published to showcase students’ work. On an on demand writing assessment, students are given a particular situation and they respond to a writing task.
