  • Sandusky receives $1,000 scholarship from National FFA Organization

    The National FFA Organization awarded a $1000 Tractor Supply-Growing Scholars scholarship to Michael Sandusky of the Marion County High School FFA. The scholarship is sponsored by Tractor Supply Company as a special project of the National FFA Foundation. Sandusky plans to use the funds to pursue a degree at the University of Kentucky.
    This scholarship is one of 1,645 awarded through the National FFA Organization’s scholarship program this year. Currently, 127 sponsors contribute more than $2.1 million to support scholarships for students.

  • MCHS principal resigns

    School starts in Marion County one week from today, and the Marion County Public School district is searching for two principals.
    A.C. Glasscock Elementary School is currently searching for a principal after Lee Ann Divine resigned this month to become the principal at Mercer County Elementary School. And, Thursday night, July 25, Marion County High School Principal Stacey Hall sent an email to his staff announcing his resignation.

  • Vacant school board seat to remain empty until October

    On top of searching for two new principals, the Marion County Board of Education is searching for a new school board member, too.

  • GES continues search for new principal

    A.C. Glasscock Elementary School continues its search for a new principal.
    Former principal Lee Ann Divine announced her resignation July 9. She’s been the principal at GES for 12 years, but she resigned after accepting a principal position at Mercer County Elementary School in Harrodsburg.
    Until a principal is hired, Marion County Superintendent Taylora Schlosser appointed John Brady, former St. Charles Middle School principal, to serve as interim.

  • Tutu much fun!

    The first Back Tutu School 2.2-mile Family Fun Run/Walk attracted 275 participants. 

    Along the way, runners and walkers from six weeks to 81 years old shared smiles and laughs. 

    Even a few dogs got in on the act.

    The event raised $2,300 for the Marion County Girls on the Run program. The purpose of the program is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident.

    Girls on the Run will be in place at the four Marion County public elementary schools this fall.

  • MCHS principal resigns to move to central office position

    School starts in less than two weeks in Marion County, and the district is searching for two principals.
    A.C. Glasscock Elementary School is currently searching for a principal after Lee Ann Divine resigned this month to become the principal at Mercer County Elementary School. And, Thursday night, July 25, Marion County High School Principal Stacey Hall sent an email to his staff at 8:37 p.m., announcing his resignation. In the email, he said he will be moving to a position at central office.

  • Students receive 2013 AP Scholar Awards

    Forty-three students at Marion County High School have earned AP Scholars Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level 2013 Advanced Placement Exams.
