Library hosting college preparation event Wednesday, June 8

Future college students and their parents may want to attend "Destination: On Your Own" from 1-6 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at the Marion County Public Library. The event is being presented in collaboration with the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) and AmeriCorps, via the Central Kentucky Community Action Council.
At 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., Travis Webb will present information for students preparing to leave for college and to live in a dorm room or in their own apartment. The presentation will include information about budgeting, saving and more.

Drug testing policy drafted, funding still needed

The first draft of a drug testing policy has been written and, if approved by the Marion County Board of Education, it would include athletes, students participating in extra-curricular activities, students who drive to school and students who volunteer or are enrolled by their parents.
