  • Lebanon native receives award from UK College of Agriculture

    Brett Childers, was awarded one of the two 2013 College of Agriculture, Food and Environment Outstanding Staff Awards in the Technician/Paraprofessional category. 

    He has worked for BAE since 2005, starting in a technical position assisting Dr. Larry Wells on a tobacco research project. 

    In 2011, he was promoted to his current position as an engineer technician senior in the agricultural machinery research lab.

  • Marching Knights

    The Marion County Marching Knights were named the grand champion at the Russell High School Marching Invitational on Sept. 7. This was the first time since 2009 that the Marching Knights  have been a grand champion in a Kentucky Music Educators Association event. Marion County also competed in the Taylor County Marching Invitational on Saturday. The Marching Knights finished third overall and first in Class 4A. The Marching Knight also had the Best Guard in 4A.

  • PSAT test will be administered on Oct. 16

    The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT. It also gives students a chance to enter the NMSC scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools.  The PSAT measures the skills your student has developed over the course of his education. These include:
    • Critical reading skills
    • Math problem-solving skills
    • Writing skills

  • St. Catharine College will host sixth annual celebration of freedom to read

    Faculty, staff and students from St. Catharine College will gather in front of the new Emily W. Hundley Library on Sept. 24 and 25 to read from books they love that have been banned. Members of the public are invited to attend or participate, as well.
    On Sept. 24, a cookout will be provided by Student Services. Banned Books Week t-shirts will also be on sale both days of the event. Banned Books Week is a national celebration. More information about the event can be found at ala.org.
