  • 2017 MCPS Reading Celebration

    Marion County Public Schools celebrated reading all week last week. Students and the entire community were invited to Marion County High School Thursday evening for the community reading night, which included appearances by Batman and the Batmobile, the Dream Bus, Storm Troopers, Power Rangers and a petting

  • Terrell to join St. A in July as principal

    Paul Terrell just isn’t ready to retire but he has done his time, 27 years as a Kentucky educator — teacher, principal, administrator — all of it in Washington County, where he is a lifelong resident.
    At home for lunch one day from his job as director of transportation and facilities, Terrell decided to browse through the local newspaper. He saw an ad for a principal at St. Augustine Grade School, talked it over with his wife, and applied.

  • MCHS SBDM Council election results

    Marion County High School recently announced its 2017-18 SBDM Council results. The parent representatives will be Kenya Reyes and Dot Caldwell. Teacher representatives will be Carol Stayton, Katie Johnson and Daniel Mattingly. The elected members will serve a one-year term starting in July.

     

  • New MCHS principal likes a challenge

    Thad Elmore likes a challenge, which is one reason why he wanted to become the next Marion County High School principal.
    MCHS has had four principals in seven years, and Elmore is ready to provide MCHS with some stability, support and continued success.
    “I’m looking forward to the challenge,” Elmore said. “I always like to improve myself. This district is forward thinking. That’s important. That was another draw.”

    Sullivan College of Technology and Design (SCTD) announces its Spring 2016 graduates.
    SCTD has earned a reputation as one of the most successful technical and design career colleges in the region, offering courses in computer graphics, dynamic web development, engineering technology, computer network administration/security and forensics, CADD, HVAC/R, and interior design.
