• School board meets tonight

    The Marion County Board of Education is scheduled to hold a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at Lebanon Elementary School.

    The Marion County Public School District Finance Corporation Meeting will also meet at 6:05 p.m. May 14 at Lebanon Elementary School. The school board members also make up the district finance corporation.

    The agenda includes the following:

    • Call to order

    • Pledge of Allegiance/moment of silence

  • New display by and for the kids

    The most recent public display at the Marion County Heritage Center features the work of some of Marion County’s youngest artists.
    The show opened May 6 and will remain at the center through Friday, May 15. It includes a number of pieces created by local elementary school students.
    “It’s awesome to get the kids out into the community and see their art,” Calvary Elementary art teacher Stephanie Keeling said. “It makes them feel extra special.”

  • Lee named to High Honor Roll

    University of the Cumberlands named Tina Lee of Loretto to the High Honor Roll during the 56th annual Honors Day program.
    These students have attained a minimum of 3.85 cumulative standing. Since UC only offers one undergraduate commencement ceremony, this list includes those students who finished their degree in December as well as those who will graduate in the May event.

  • Students receive art awards

    Marion County High School Art Students recently exhibited artwork at Campbellsville University’s first annual High School Juried Art Show. Held at the Turner Log Cabin on Campbellsville University’s campus on May 1, students exhibited artwork in various media, competing against other area high school students. Winners included these MCHS students:

    Sarah Hill: Third place ($10 award)
    Carrie Fowler: Honorable Mention ($5 award)
