  • Fiscal court to meet at 4 p.m. today

    The Marion County Fiscal Court is scheduled to meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, in regular session at the David R. Hourigan Building.

    The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

    - Minutes Sept. 15 meeting

    - Recommended budget transfer(s) and job title correction(s)  in  budget

    - Consider extending maintenance/elevator service  agreement to include judicial center

    City council expresses support for rehiring lobbyist

    The Lebanon City Council on Sept. 8 voted unanimously to express its support for hiring Karen Lentz to lobby on the city's behalf in Frankfort.

  • County approves funds for PVA, detention center

    The Marion County Fiscal Court approved a slight increase in funds for the Marion County Property Valuation Administrator's Office during its regular monthly meeting Thursday.

    The Finance Cabinet advised the fiscal court in March that the court should pay the PVA's Office $41,284.55. Based on the updated property values, the Finance Cabinet has increased that amount to $41,784.55.

  • City council to hold public hearing, regular meeting

    The Lebanon City Council will hold a public hearing at 7 tonight, Sept. 10, prior to the regular council meeting.

    The public hearing relates to the city's tax rates for the 2012. The proposed rates per $100 in property value are 19.1 cents on real property and 19.14 on personal property.

    The agenda for the regular council meeting is as follows:

    The Lebanon Tourist and Convention Commission is scheduled to meet in regular session at 3:30 p.m. today, Sept. 10, in Room 300 of the Centre Square Convention Center.

  • Tourist commission to hold retreat Saturday

    The Lebanon Tourist and Convention Commission has scheduled a special-called meeting on Saturday, Sept. 8.

    The commission will be holding a retreat from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 300 of the Centre Square Convention Center. The purpose of the retreat is to discuss goals for the coming year.

  • Lt. Governor talks economy, education

    Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson stopped by Marion County Aug. 23, and the economy was on his mind. He was the guest speaker at the Marion County Chamber of Commerce lunch at the Marion County Extension Office.
    This was his second trip to Marion County since he was sworn in as lieutenant governor. His first trip was the day after he took office when he came to Wilbert Plastic Services when that company announced an agreement to make parts for the Ford Escape, which is manufactured in Louisville.

  • $500,000 grant will aid R.L. Schreiber expansion effort

    R.L. Schreiber Inc. opened its Lebanon facility last year, and the company is already moving forward with expansion plans. That effort will also benefit from a $500,000 boost from the state.
    "We're actually expanding what we were already bringing," said Greg Ransdell, R.L. Schreiber CEO.
    R.L. Schreiber is a food base and spice company that serves more than 12,000 customers, including cafeterias, cruise lines, national retailers, restaurants and schools. Its Marion County facility is located on Hendrickson Drive.

  • Judicial center will be closed Sept. 3-4

    The Marion County Judicial Center will be closed Monday, Sept. 3, for Labor Day, and Tuesday, Sept. 4, for a required furlough day.
    The judicial center houses the Marion Circuit and District Courts and the Marion Circuit Clerk's Office. The furlough day was ordered by John D. Minton Jr., chief justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court, for all court services statewide.
    The judicial center will reopen Wednesday, Sept. 5.
