In recent months, the Lebanon City Council and the Lebanon Tourist and Convention Commission have been contacted about the possibility of purchasing property at the intersection of Burkes Spring Road and Hwy. 52.

During its Oct. 10 meeting, the city council voted 5-0 in favor of contributing $10,000 toward the purchase. Councilman Jay Grundy was not present at that meeting.

The Lebanon Tourist and Convention Commission is scheduled to meet in special-called meeting at 5 p.m.

The agenda includes the following:

-  Robin Humphress of Kentucky Classic Theatre

- Minutes of meetings from Sept. 13, 22 and 27 and Oct. 4 and 5

- Treasurer's report and expenses

- November marketing plan and ad

- Executive session to conduct phone/video interviews with executive director candidates and to discuss property acquisition

After months of a discussion and a bit of tweaking, the Marion County Fiscal Court has approved the new magisterial district boundaries.

The magistrates voted 3-1 in favor of approving the second reading of the ordinance setting the boundaries during their Oct. 6 meeting. Magistrate Roger "Cotton" Smothers voted against the ordinance, and Magistrate Larry Caldwell was not present at the meeting.

Smothers said he would have preferred to leave the boundaries unchanged.

The City of Lebanon was awarded a $10,320 grant from the Law Enforcement Protection Program last week. The grant will be used to purchase body armor vest for the Lebanon Police Department.

LEPP grants are administered by the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security and are given to appropriate agencies for defensive items needed for their duties.
