David L. Williams will be the Republican gubernatorial candidate in the fall.
Williams, the Senate president, won the state with 68,528 votes. Phil Moffett, a Louisville businessman, was second in the Republican primary with 53,966 votes, and Jefferson County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw was a distant third with 19,614 votes.
Williams carried Marion County with 108 votes. Moffett received 77 votes, and Holsclaw collected 28 votes.
