  • Christmas tree disposal information

    Marion County Judge/Executive John G. Mattingly sent the following announcement regarding Christmas tree disposal:

    The  question  has  come  up  about  disposal of  Live/Cut  Christmas  Trees – these  trees  typically  have  been  found  thrown  on   the  road sides,  at  “pull  offs”,  in creeks  and  branches  around  the  county.

  • County office closings for the New Year

    Tuesday, Jan. 1, is a holiday for all county employees, and as a result, there will be no garbage pick-up that day.

    The normal Tuesday route will be picked up on Wednesday, Jan. 2. Since both the Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be picked up that day, residents are encouraged to put their trash out earlier than usual.

    The County Clerk's office and the PVA office will be closed from Saturday, Dec. 29, through Tuesday, Jan. 1. The offices are closed Dec. 29 and 31 due to the shutdown of the state AVIS system, and on Jan. 1 for the county holiday.

  • Fiscal court to meet Dec. 20

    The Marion County Fiscal Court is scheduled to meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, on the second floor of the David R. Hourigan Building.

    Here is the agenda for that meeting:

    - Approval of the 2013 county holiday schedule

    - Resolution recognized January 2013 as School Board Recognition Month

    - Approval of Humana rebate to reduce plan premium costs for 2013

  • Fogle resigns from city council

    Denise Fogle has resigned from the Lebanon City Council.

    Fogle submitted her resignation, effective immediately, at the end of Monday’s meeting. Fogle wrote in her resignation letter that she was submitting it with great regret.

    “Due to circumstances that are out of my control and with a heavy heart I have to step away from this role in order to receive my Kentucky Retirement benefits and most importantly the health insurance that comes with those benefits,” she wrote.

  • City council, tourist commission meet today

    The Lebanon Tourist and Convention Commission and the Lebanon City Council are both scheduled to meet in regular session today, Dec. 10.
    The tourist commission is scheduled to meet at 3:30 p.m. in Room 300 of the Centre Square Convention Center.
    The tourist agenda includes the following:
    - Call to order and reading of the mission statement
    - Delegations: Adam Johnson of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail
    - Approval of minutes
    - Treasurer’s report
    - Executive director’s report
