  • Fiscal Court to meet Friday regarding redistricting

    The Marion County Fiscal Court has scheduled a special-called meeting at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, on the third floor of the David R. Hourigan Government Center, 223 N. Spalding Avenue in Lebanon. 

    According to the agenda, the court is meeting with Mike Robinson of the Lincoln Trail Area Development District to discuss reapportionment/redistricting for the county's magisterial districts based on the 2010 Census information.

  • Christian youth rally is this weekend

    The Heart of Kentucky Christian Youth Rally is scheduled to take place Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9-10, in Lebanon, but there has been one change.
    Friday's events will now be held at Lebanon Middle School, 200 Corporate Drive in Lebanon. Originally, they had been scheduled for Centre Square.
    The doors will open at 6 p.m. Friday. That night will include speakers and musical performance. The featured performers that night are Building 429, who are scheduled to perform at 8 p.m.

    In the moments before the first plane hit the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, officials from 18 states had gathered for the annual Southern Governors' Association conference in Lexington. As Governor of Kentucky and chairman of the association, I was hosting the event. 

  • 10 years later: Looking back on 9-11

    Some things remain fresh in our minds no matter how much time has passed since they occurred. For many Americans, 9-11 has become one of those things.

    The Enterprise asked Marion Countians to share their memories of that day. Here is what they wrote.

  • Handle with care

    Adrienne Basham made a trip to the emergency room recently with her 3-month-old son, Bailey. 

    "[The nurse] said, 'Well, what's wrong with him?' And I told her, 'He has a broken leg and he has possible broken ribs.'" said Basham, 23, of Loretto. "She just looked at me. We get the craziest looks."

    Trips to the emergency room have become routine ever since Bailey was born. He has Osteogenesis imperfecta, which is also known as brittle bone disease. 

  • Insurance agent dies

    Bill Hagan was politically savvy, a good businessman and able to relate to anyone.

    "He had a gift," Elmer George said. "He was at ease talking to people, and he enjoyed listening to people."

  • Missing Lebanon native has died

    The search for a missing Marion County man has come to an unfortunate end.

    Larry Lee has died.

    Lee, 32, has been missing since Aug. 4, when he walked away from the Falmouth Care Home, a personal-care facility. He was found Saturday by some hunters near a river in Falmouth.

    For Lee's family and friends, the discovery ends a month of multiple searches and  reports of possible sightings.

  • NAACP hosting meeting Sept. 11

    The Marion County chapter of the NAACP is hosting a meeting at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Marion County Public Library, 201 E. Main Street in Lebanon.

    The meeting will be held in the large meeting room, and the meeting is open to the public.

  • Missing Lebanon native has died

    Lebanon native Larry Lee has died.

    Lee, 32, has been missing since Aug. 4, when he walked away from the Falmouth Care Home, a personal-care facility. He was found by some hunters near a river in Falmouth.

    Lee, who had an acquired brain injury, was a ward of the state through a brain injury program, according to his sister, Melissa Knight. Lee was also schizophrenic, bipolar and diabetic.

    The Marion County Fiscal Court is scheduled to meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2. Here are the items on the agenda:

    - Consider additional PVA Appropriation per KRS131.140 (4),132.590(11,12),133.050(2)

    - Consider of work release volunteer program insurance policy renewal

    - Sheriff's 2010 tax settlement-accounts due/refunds sheet
