  • Robberies reported at Circle K and La Korita Market

    The Lebanon Police Department responded to a report of a robbery at 6:03 a.m. Sunday at the Circle K Convenient Store, 310 W. Walnut Street in Lebanon.

    An undisclosed amount of money was stolen, according to the police. The suspect was described as a black male in his 30s, approximately 5' 10" and of stocky build.

  • Sunday sales license fees second reading today

    The Lebanon City Council is scheduled to hold a special called meeting at noon Friday, Jan. 2.

    According to the agenda for the special called meeting, the council will be vote on the second reading of an amendment to the recently approved Sunday alcohol sales ordinance. The ordinance amendment was meant to establish the license fee for restaurants and private clubs who applied for a Sunday alcohol sales license. On the first reading, the council agreed there would be no fee from the city for the Sunday sales license.

  • City budget under close watch

    Given the state of the economy around the nation and across the state, city officials are taking a closer look at the 2008-09 budget.

    During a special city council meeting Dec. 22, Mayor Gary Crenshaw said that the city is in good financial shape, all things considered.

    There are fewer people working in Lebanon than there were a year ago, which will likely affect revenue from the city's occupational tax.

  • Burglar caught at Higdon's Foodtown

    A burglar who attempted to rob Higdon's Foodtown early Monday morning was caught and arrested by the Lebanon Police Department.

    According to Lebanon Police Chief Shelton Young, a burglar alarm went off at Higdon's Foodtown at 1:47 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5. Lebanon Police Officers responded to the scene and, after gaining entry, searched the building.

    James O. Porter was discovered in the store's office area trying to steal cash and was charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree criminal damage to property.

  • UPDATE: Lebanon Jewelry robbed, $60,000 worth of jewelry stolen

    Lebanon Police are looking for a suspect who robbed Lebanon Jewelry, 495 W. Main Street, Tuesday afternoon,  Dec. 30.

    According to the police, the suspect was described as a black male wearing either a black or brown jacket, green pants and brown boots. He was also wearing a black mask and fled on foot at 1:43 p.m.

    Police report that the suspect stole $60,000 worth of jewelry and $507 in cash.

    Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Lebanon Police at 692-2121.
