The Marion County Board of Education is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the school board office, 755 E. Main Street in Lebanon.

From 5:30-6:45 p.m., the board members are scheduled to conduct their self-evaluation. The regular board meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

The re-elected board members are scheduled to take the oath of office.

Other items on the agenda include reports from the superintendent and the wellness committee as well as the financial report and the district's gap analysis report.

The Marion County Fiscal Court is scheduled to meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at the David Hourigan Government Center, 223 N. Spalding Avenue.

The court will discuss the 2009 county employee holiday schedule and the 2009 clerk's budget, according to the agenda.

Other items on the agenda include setting maximum amounts for deputies and assistants, a revised proposal for street lighting at Hwy. 429 and the Lebanon bypass, and the renewal of the county's contract with Medical Claims Assistance Inc.

There will be garbage pick-up on Wednesday, Dec.  31, New Years Eve, but it will probably be a little earlier than normal. Please, set your garbage out for an earlier than normal pick-up.  

There will not be garbage pick-up on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, New Years Day. However, the normal Thursday route will be picked up on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, along with the normal Friday route.

Because crews are "doubling up" on Friday, garbage will probably be picked up a little earlier.

Tim Auch worked in the automotive industry for 25 years before he retired from TG Kentucky in March of 2006. He said he was looking for something low stress to do for the rest of his life.

Six months later, he received his first five female alpacas. He told this story a few weeks ago, as Crystaleen, a 6-year-old alpaca, leaned its long neck affectionately into his chest.

"This is an example of low stress," said Auch, who is 61.
