  • Lebanon man pleads guilty to sex abuse

    Michael Johnson Jr., 25, of 337 M.L. King Avenue #2 in Lebanon pled guilty to first-degree sex abuse of a victim under 12 years of age. This was amended from an original charge of first-degree rape.

    Twenty-eight counts of first-degree rape and four counts of first-degree sodomy were dismissed.

    His sentencing has been scheduled for Nov. 8. As part of the plea agreement, the Commonwealth has recommended five years in prison, lifetime registration as a sex offender and sex offender treatment while he is incarcerated.

  • TG Kentucky discrimination suit dismissed

     

    An agreed order of dismissal was signed Aug. 29 by Marion Circuit Judge Allan Bertram. The dismissal reads that the claims asserted in the case have been settled and dismissed with prejudice, which means the case cannot be refiled.

    Michael Wright initially filed his complaint in Marion Circuit Court. The complaint was moved to U.S. District Court, but then moved back to Marion Circuit Court.

  • Five die on state roadways

    Preliminary statistics* indicate that five people died in five separate crashes on Kentucky’s roadways from Monday, Aug. 20 through Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012.
    Three of the victims were traveling in motor vehicles and two were not wearing seat belts. All three crashes involved the use of alcohol. One fatality occurred in each of the following counties: Boone, Carter and Rockcastle.  
    One fatality was the result of a motorcycle crash in Monroe County. The victim was not wearing a helmet and the crash involved the use of alcohol.

    Aug. 21
    - Lawson Tractor and Implement reported theft by unlawful taking over $500 occurred on Aug. 17. Six tractor batteries, with a combined value of $802, were reported stolen.

    Aug. 24
    - Jason B. Cox reported second-degree burglary occurred between Aug. 22 and 24 at 310 Shuck Avenue. A Dell Inspiron laptop valued at $400 and some consumables of unknown value were reported stolen.

  • Three indicted for manufacturing meth

    Two Gravel Switch men and a Liberty man were indicted for manufacturing methamphetamine and a string of other charges in Marion Circuit Court recently.
