The Kentucky State Police, Post 15, Columbia, which provides coverage for Washington, Marion, Taylor, Casey, Russell, Green, Metcalfe, Monroe, Clinton, Cumberland and Adair counties will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints at locations approved by the Kentucky State Police Policy and Procedures Manual. These checkpoints will be conducted in an effort to enforce the traffic laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Michael D. Pruitt, 22, and Matthew E. Lee, 23, both of Lebanon were indicted for trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school in Marion Circuit Court recently.
According to the indictment, on or about Oct. 16, 2011, Pruitt, of 1820 Hwy 289, was trafficking in marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school. He was also indicted for possession of marijuana, buying/possessing drug paraphernalia, DUI first offense with aggravating circumstances, possession of an open alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle, and no or expired Kentucky registration receipt.

James C. Smith, 51, of 3450 Hwy 208 in Lebanon was indicted for criminal attempt to commit murder and fourth-degree assault in Marion Circuit Court recently.

According to the indictment, on or about Dec. 10, 2011, Smith attempted to cause the death of another person. The indictment also reads that he intentionally or wantonly caused physical injury to another person.

His bond was set at $10,000 cash with the condition that he have a GPS tracking device and no contact with the victim.
