  • Former LaRue County High School principal guilty of transporting child pornography

    A former LaRue County High School principal pleaded guilty last week in United States District Court, before U.S. District Judge David J. Hale, to transporting child pornography and possessing child pornography that had been transported in interstate commerce.

  • Campbellsville man sentenced to probation for damaging Scott’s Ridge lookout

    Steven Craig Benningfield of 720 Philpott Road in Campbellsville was found guilty of second-degree criminal mischief after damaging property at the Scott’s Ridge lookout near Raywick. He was arrested on July 29 in Taylor County. He was sentenced to 60 days, probated for 24 months. He was ordered to have no contact with Scott’s Ridge, pay restitution, complete 20 hours of community service and pay $133 in court costs.

    July 24
    Jessica A. Calhoun of Woodlawn Avenue reported the theft of a .22 caliber Phoenix Arms semi-automatic pistol, valued at $200.

    July 25
    Cottage Floral reported the theft of a floral wreath worth $75 and an advertisement flag worth $25.

  • Former MCHS band director sentenced to six years in prison

    Curtis Bennett, former Marion County High School teacher and band director, will be spending the next six years in prison after pleading guilty to sex offenses involving female students.
    Bennett was sentenced Thursday morning in Marion Circuit Court before Marion Circuit Judge Todd Spalding. His sentence also requires him to register as a lifetime sex offender, complete sex offender treatment and pay $160 in court costs.
    Bennett was first arrested on Jan. 6, 2016, after an investigation found evidence of inappropriate activity between Bennett and a female student.

  • Campbellsville man arrested for damaging Scott’s Ridge lookout

    Steven Craig Benningfield, 23, of Campbellsville was arrested on July 29 in Taylor County for second-degree criminal mischief. His arrest resulted from an investigation into a June 21 incident in which Benningfield is accused of unlawfully damaging property at the Scott’s Ridge Road lookout near Raywick. Benningfield was lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center with bail set at $2,500.
     

  • Bradfordsville woman indicted for burglary

    Elizabeth Isabele, 35, of 960 Bradfordsville Road in Lebanon was indicted for first-degree burglary, defacing a firearm, and possession of a defaced firearm in Marion Circuit Court recently. According to the indictment, on or about Nov. 18, 2015, Isabele knowingly entered or remained unlawfully in a building with intent to commit a crime, intentionally defaced a firearm or aided, abetted or counseled with another in said act, and was found to be in possession of a defaced firearm. Her bond was set at $20,000, and she was ordered to have no contact with the victim or premises.
