Preliminary statistics indicate that 12 people died in 12 separate crashes on Kentucky roadways from Monday, Feb. 14, through Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011.
Eleven of the crashes involved motor vehicles and six of the victims were not wearing seat belts. Single-fatality crashes occurred in Harlan, Jefferson, Knott, Madison, McCracken, Pike, Rockcastle, Russell, Spencer, and Whitley (two) counties. The crashes in Madison and Russell County involved the suspected use of alcohol.
One pedestrian involved crash occurred in Jefferson County.
