  • Eleven die on state roadways

     Preliminary statistics* indicate that 11 people died in 10 separate crashes on Kentucky roadways from Monday, Jan. 17, through Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012.
    Nine of the crashes involved motor vehicles and six of the victims were not wearing seat belts. Single-fatality crashes occurred in Bath, Christian, Clay, Jefferson, Logan, Ohio, Simpson and Union counties. The suspected use of alcohol was a factor in the Bath County crash.
    One double-fatality motor vehicle crash occurred in Spencer County.
    One pedestrian involved crash occurred in Greenup County.

  • Lebanon man gets five years on theft, probation violation

    Perry Anthony Bell, 24, of 11 Blossom Lane in Lebanon was sentenced to five years in prison in Marion Circuit Court recently after his probation was revoked on an underlying charge of theft by unlawful taking over $500.

    In other circuit court news:
    - Andreas Beltran, a.k.a. Andres Beltran, 22, of 1437 Pheasant Run in Mishawaka, Ind., was sentenced to 10 months and 23 days for facilitation to trafficking in marijuana. He received credit for time served in Indiana.

    Jan. 12
    - Beverly J. Ellery reported an incident of theft by unlawful taking under $500 at 344 S. Proctor Knott Avenue in Lebanon. A Miller brand cooler on wheels valued at $50 and $20 in cash were taken from her vehicle.

  • Local deputy graduates from basic training

    Law enforcement officers from 22 agencies across the state graduated Friday from basic training at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training.

  • Four indicted for possession of a firearm by a felon

    James Timothy Greenwell, 47, of 745 Helm School House Road in Lebanon was indicted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and first-degree persistent felony offender.
    According to the indictment, on or about Dec. 25, Greenwell possessed, manufactured or transported a firearm after having been convicted of a felony. The indictment also reads, he was also over 21 and stood convicted of at least two felonies after his 18th birthday.
    His bond was set at $10,000 with the condition that he uses no alcohol or drugs.

    Preliminary statistics* indicate that eight people died in seven separate crashes on Kentucky roadways from Monday, Jan. 9, through Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012.
    Seven of the fatalities involved motor vehicles and four of the victims were not wearing seatbelts. Single-fatality crashes occurred in Adair, Carter, Jefferson (2), and Muhlenberg counties. Crashes in Carter and Jefferson counties involved the suspected use of alcohol.
    One double-fatality motor vehicle crash occurred in Pike County.
    One pedestrian involved fatal crash occurred in Jefferson County.
