  • Louisville man indicted on multiple sex charges

    Christopher A. Sutherland, 21, of 1732 Sonne Avenue in Louisville was indicted in Marion Circuit Court recently for 10 counts of third-degree rape, 10 counts of third-degree sodomy, 10 counts of first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree persistent felony offender.

  • Lebanon man pleads guilty to reckless homicide

    Phillip R. Johnson, 29, of 6345 W. Main Street, Apt. 10, in Lebanon pled guilty to reckless homicide and two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance in Marion Circuit Court recently.

    Johnson faced an original charge of first-degree manslaughter related to the death of Jessica Monday on March 9, 2010.

    His sentencing has been scheduled for Jan. 5.

  • KSP teams with DEA

    KSP will partner with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) on Oct. 29, 2011 in a collaborative effort to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from home medicine cabinets.  Collection activities will take place from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. at Post 15 in Columbia. Post 15 covers Washington, Marion, Taylor, Green, Casey, Russell, Metcalfe, Monroe, Cumberland, Clinton and Adair Counties.

    Reports from the Lebanon Police Department
    - On Oct. 15, James Sims of South Harrison Street in Lebanon reported the theft of six CDs and an AC vehicle adapter, totaling $100 in stolen items. He also reported $350 in damage to his vehicle.
    - On Oct. 16, Daniel Blake of Elm Street in Lebanon reported the rear window of his 2003 Volkswagon was broken out, causing $475 in damage.

  • Miller Pike resident gets four years for DUI

    Derrick J. Johnson, 41, of 650 Miller Pike in Lebanon was sentenced to four years in prison for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or other substance (fourth or subsequent offense), operating a motor vehicle while license revoked or suspended (third or subsequent offense), resisting arrest and no or expired registration plates.
    A charge of first-degree felony offender was dismissed.

    The KSP Commercial Vehicle Division is participating in the national “Operation Safe Driver” campaign from Oct. 16-22. The program is sponsored by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA).

  • Jury selection to begin in murder trial

    Landmark News Service

    Jury selection was slated to begin Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the latest round of court appearances by Michael St. Clair.

    St. Clair is charged with the 1991 kidnapping and murder of Marion County native Frank Brady.

    To make jury duty easier for the re-sentencing hearing, St. Clair made a motion recently to have jurors paid minimum wage, which is more than the $12.50 paid by statute.
