  • State police will conduct traffic safety checkpoints

    The Kentucky State Police, Post 15, Columbia, which provides coverage for Washington, Marion, Taylor, Casey, Russell, Green, Metcalfe, Monroe, Clinton, Cumberland and Adair counties will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints at locations approved by the Kentucky State Police Policy and Procedures Manual. These checkpoints will be conducted in an effort to enforce the traffic laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

  • Lebanon man gets 10 years for reckless homicide

    Phillip R. Johnson, 30, of 6345 W. Main Street in Lebanon was sentenced to 10 years in prison for reckless homicide, two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance first offense (cocaine), and flagrant non-support.

    Johnson was initially indicted on a manslaughter charge in connection with the death of Jessica Monday on March 9, 2010, but that charge was amended to reckless homicide.

  • Two men accused of drug trafficking near a school

    Michael D. Pruitt, 22, and Matthew E. Lee, 23, both of Lebanon were indicted for trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school in Marion Circuit Court recently.
    According to the indictment, on or about Oct. 16, 2011, Pruitt, of 1820 Hwy 289, was trafficking in marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school. He was also indicted for possession of marijuana, buying/possessing drug paraphernalia, DUI first offense with aggravating circumstances, possession of an open alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle, and no or expired Kentucky registration receipt.

  • Gray gets probation for marijuana possession

    Letty N. Gray, 32, of 761 Rosslyn Dale Drive in Lexington received 24 months of probation in Marion Circuit Court recently for possession of marijuana, controlled substance prescription not in original container, failure to register/transfer of a motor vehicle and failure to notify of address change to Department of Transportation.
    Gray was also ordered to perform 40 hours of community service and be subject to random drug test while on probation. Gray was ordered to pay court costs.

  • Lebanon man indicted for attempted murder

    James C. Smith, 51, of 3450 Hwy 208 in Lebanon was indicted for criminal attempt to commit murder and fourth-degree assault in Marion Circuit Court recently.

    According to the indictment, on or about Dec. 10, 2011, Smith attempted to cause the death of another person. The indictment also reads that he intentionally or wantonly caused physical injury to another person.

    His bond was set at $10,000 cash with the condition that he have a GPS tracking device and no contact with the victim.

    Reports from the Lebanon Police Department
    - On Dec. 14, Kim Holgate of Lebanon reported harassing communications while at Ovations Salon.
    - On Dec. 17, William T. Luster of West Walnut Street in Lebanon reported a burglary and the theft of a laptop computer, Xbox 360 game console with two controllers and one game. Total of stolen items is an estimated $700. Luster also reported minor damage to the door of his residence.
