  • Lebanon City Council meeting at 7 p.m.

    Here are the items on the agenda for the Dec. 13 meeting of the Lebanon City Council. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at city hall.

    - Lebanon tourism director Chris Hamilton will speak with the council regarding the wayfinding system for the heritage trail.

  • Higdon's Foodtown closing Jan. 22

    Higdon's Foodtown IGA will be closing next month.

    Owner Jimmy Higdon said the store's last day will be around Jan. 22. (This is a slightly earlier date than he had estimated on Friday.)

    He said that a tentative purchase agreement has been reached with Houchens Industries, which also owns Sav-A-Lot. Higdon said it was his understanding that the Sav-A-lot located in the Lebanon Trade Center would be moving into the Higdon's Foodtown building around March of next year.

  • How to deal with debt collectors

    A debt collector yelled at me this morning. I tried to yell back - but I think she hung up the phone before I got to that point.

    And I think it was a debt collector. She had all the required traits - attitude, persistence, hide like a water buffalo.

    The funny thing is ? it wasn't my debt.

  • Girls have busy week scheduled

    Last night, the local basketball teams headed to Columbia to face the Adair County Indians. Results for these games were unknown as of press time.
    Last season the Lady Knights defeated the Lady Indians three times, most recently in the finals of the district with a 78-37 win. The boys split their meetings with the Indians last year, winning by six points on Dec. 8 and losing by 13 points on Jan. 19.

  • Three Knights play in East-West All-Star game

    On Sunday, Dec. 5, three Marion County football players participated in the Greater Louisville Football Coaches Association All-Star Game.
    The game was played at Southern High School in Louisville, with the East team defeating the West team 14-7. Marion County’s Christian Peterson, Clayton Smith, and Dylan Caldwell were members of the West team.

  • Lady Knights play at Rupp Arena Saturday

    The Marion County High School girls basketball team will be participating in the Racing To The Rim Basketball Showcase in Lexington this weekend.
    The Lady Knights are scheduled to play Scott County at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at Rupp Arena.
    The showcase begins Friday, Dec. 10. Games on Friday and Saturday will be played at the Scott County High School gymnasium.

  • Cow elk firearms season opens Dec. 11

    Kentucky’s quota firearms hunt for cow elk opens in southeastern Kentucky’s 16-county elk zone this Saturday, Dec. 11.The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources issued 600 quota hunt cow permits this year.

  • 4-H Club Reports

    CODE GREEN
    The Code Green 4-H Club was organized in Ms. Hamilton’s fifth grade class at St. Augustine on Sept. 28, 2010. The following officers were elected: Jane Palagi, president; Luke Thomas, vice-president; Cassandra Thomas, secretary and Kelly Mattingly, reporter.
    The first meeting of the Code Green 4-H Club was held Oct. 26, 2010.
