  • Lady Knights win Sweet 16 opener

    The Marion County Lady Knights opened the 2012 Sweet Sixteen with a 56-49 win over Walton-Verona.

    With the win, the Lady Knights advance to the quarterfinals where they will face Hopkinsville (32-4) at 7:30 Eastern/6:30 Central time
    tonight at E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green.

    Hopkinsville defeated Marshall County, 56-52, in the first round.

    The tournament resumes this afternoon at 1 p.m. Eastern/noon Central when Butler will face Paul Laurence Dunbar. DuPont Manual and Montgomery County will meet in the second afternoon game.

  • Hunting is over; time to fish

    O.K., here it is! Hunting, except for coyotes, is over till April and the wild turkey season.
    What we're looking at now is fishing and getting ready to go fishing. Part of that "getting' ready" is practicing our casting, flippin' and pitchin'.
    And what better way to show how good you are than to engage in some friendly competition!
    To that end I have developed a pitchin'/flippin' game to test our skills. This venue will make its debut April 14 and 15.

  • It's that time of year

    Well, the calendar just flipped another page into the month of March. Where does the time go? I remember when I was in school, people would tell me that time seems to pass by faster as you get older. At the time I thought they were just saying that, but now I am beginning to see that they were right.

  • Knights defeat Green County in a nail biter

    The Marion County Knights varsity basketball team traveled to Central Hardin High School to take on the Green County Dragons in the first round of the 5th Region Tournament Thursday. After taking down the Dragons earlier in the season by 30 points, the Knights found themselves in a close battle that came down to the final minute of the game. Sophomore Latrelle Irvin led the way with 20 points for the Knights in the 50-49 win.

  • Three-Peat

    The Marion County Lady Knights secured their spot in the state tournament with a 56-39 win over Elizabethtown Sunday evening during the 5th Region championship game at Central Hardin High School.
    The Lady Knights jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Elizabethtown could find any offense. Marion County kept expanding their lead, which they held throughout the entire game, until it expanded to its largest of the night at 22 points early in the final frame.  

  • New faces in MCHS sports

    Marion County High School has some new faces, with five new coaches taking over this year in the sports of softball, track and field, boys' tennis, and swimming.
