  • School records fall

    The Marion County Lady Knights varsity basketball team traveled to Georgetown Jan. 24 to play the Scott County Lady Cardinals. Coming off a lackluster 36-point performance in a loss to Withrow, Ohio, the Lady Knights exploded for 30 points in the opening frame on their way to a rout of Scott County by a final score of 84-47.

  • Knights crush Nelson County

    The Marion County Knights varsity basketball team hosted Nelson County at the Roby Dome Thursday night. After coming off a 30-point loss to the hands of Collins just two days earlier, the Knights were looking to bounce back. The first quarter did not start the way Marion County wanted it to as they found themselves in a 10-point hole. However, from the start of the second quarter on, the Knights were in complete control and went on to win by final score of 82-54.

  • Lady Knights runner-up in LIT

    The Marion County Lady Knights traveled to Bellarmine University this past weekend to compete in the L.I.T., taking on Christian Academy in their first game of the tournament. Marion County was able to get going early and went on to easily defeat the Lady Centurions by a final score of 69-54 to advance to the semi-finals. The Lady Knights were led by junior Makayla Epps who scored a game high 23 points.

  • Marion County fifth-graders win tournament

    The Marion County 5th Grade Basketball team captured another tournament title on Jan. 22, at the Eagle Classic in Campbellsville. The team went 5-0 on the weekend, finally defeating the Kentucky Badcats in the Championship game. Members of the team are pictured, front row from left DeJhon Irvin, DeSean Taylor, Dontey Cowherd, Bailey Gardner, Owen Mattingly, Travis Wiser, and Trevor Douglas; back row from left, are coaches Daniel Wiser and John Mattingly.   • Local girls cheers with UK dance team

    Mia Mattingly performed with the University of Kentucky Dance Team Jan. 22 for UK Dance Day during halftime of the UK basketball game against Florida Sunday, Jan 22.

  • Middle school cheerleaders compete in Lexington

    The St. Charles Middle School cheerleaders competed in the Battle of the Bluegrass held Jan 14 at Tates Creek High School in Lexington. They received second place. The coaches of the squad are Amy Mattingly and Sara Buckman.

  • Academic team wins title for seventh consecutive year

    Marion County High School captured the 20th district Governor’s Cup Academic Team Competition for the seventh consecutive year this past weekend at Taylor County High School.
    The Quick Recall Team led by sophomores Abby Blandford, Eilish Brady, Ben Cecil, Joey Costello and Jack Hagan earned first place with wins over Washington County, Taylor County, and Campbellsville High Schools.
