  • County closings for Martin Luther King Day

    Marion County Judge/Executive has announced to following closings for the Martin Luther King Holiday.

    Because  of the holiday, the state computer system will be shut  down. Likewise, the Marion County Clerk’s Office, the Marion County PVA Office, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office will be closed from Saturday Jan. 19 through Monday, Jan. 21.

    The  sheriff’s office will respond to calls placed through the Lebanon Police Dispatch (692-2121).

    The Marion County Circuit Clerk’s Office will be closed Jan. 21.

  • Magistrates favor naming highway in honor of deputy

    The Marion County Fiscal Court approved a resolution Jan. 17 in favor of renaming the Danville Highway portion of US 68 as the Deputy Sheriff Carl Anthony Rakes Memorial Highway.

    Rakes was killed Nov. 14, 2012, on Danville Highway after stopping to check on a vehicle.

    Marion County Judge/Executive John G. Mattingly presented the resolution to the fiscal court Thursday. Magistrate Steve Masterson was not present at that meeting.

  • Enterprise to be closed Monday, Jan. 21, for MLK Jr. Day

    The Lebanon Enterprise office will be closed Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

    The deadline to place an advertisement in the Jan. 23 edition of The Lebanon Enterprise is noon Friday.

    The deadline for any news items is 5 p.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 17.

  • Attorney General to speak Thursday at MCHS

    Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway will be speak with Marion County High School students at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17.

    Conway will be speaking about the dangers of prescription drug abuse. Dr. Karen Shay (a concerned parent), Van Ingram (executive director of the Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy), State Sen. Jimmy Higdon and State Rep. Terry Mills will be joining Conway.

    The talk is part of Conway's "Keep Kentucky Kids Safe" program.

    Tuesday, Jan. 22: French toast w/maple syrup and toast or assorted cereal and toast, variety of juice, milk.
    Wednesday, Jan. 23: Bacon, egg muffin sandwich and toast or assorted cereal and toast, variety of juice, milk.
    Thursday, Jan. 24: Sausage breakfast pizza and toast or assorted cereal and toast, variety of juice, milk.
    Friday, Jan. 25: Brown sugar and cinnamon oatmeal and two cinnamon toast or assorted cereal and two toasts, raisins or variety of juice, milk.

  • Local student named Student Alumni Ambassador

    Joey Hamilton of Gravel Switch has been selected as a Student Alumni Ambassador at Eastern Kentucky University.
    Hamilton is majoring in middle grade education at EKU.
    Members of Eastern’s SAA chapter, whose main objective is service to the University, often serve as hosts at various campus and alumni events. Ambassadors lead tours of campus and often meet with prospective students on campus and at recruitment events throughout Kentucky and beyond, and are involved with numerous other service and philanthropic events.

  • Bradshaw receives pin

    The Campbellsville University School of Education held its second annual pinning ceremony for undergraduates in the School of Education in the morning before commencement Dec. 14 in the Russ Mobley Theater on campus.
    Kaitlin Bradshaw of Lebanon received a pin for IECE, Early Childhood Education.
