  • Knights Fall Just Short

    The Marion County Knights found themselves behind nearly the entire game against the Adair County Indians in Columbia on Tuesday night.  A 36% shooting night doomed the Knights efforts for a comeback as the closest they came to the Indians was tied late in the game.  The Indians converted on nearly all their free throws down the stretch to send the Knights to their first district loss on the season, 65-57.  The updated 20th district standings are as follows:

    Taylor County 3-0

    Marion County 3-1

    Adair County 2-2

  • Lady Knights Hold Off Lady Indians

    The Lady Knights of Marion County had to hold off a series of comeback attempts by the Lady Indians of Adair County before coming out with a victory.  The Lady Indians were led by an impressive 32 points by Mercedes Cox, but the Lady Knights had five players in double-figures and came away with the tough 82-59 win.  With the victory, Marion County stays in first place in the district race with a 2-0 record.  The current 20th district standings are as follows:

    Marion County 2-0

    Taylor County 2-1

    Adair County 2-2

  • Knights Hang On to Defeat Bruins

    In the final game of the 2012 Autism Classic, the Knights of Marion County took on the Central Hardin Bruins.  The Knights led most of the way, but allowed the Bruins to creep back into the game near the end.  Marion County was able to hang on and take the 71-65 victory.

  • Lady Knights Win Battle of the Best

    The Marion County Lady Knights matchup with the DuPont Manual Lady Crimsons, as part of the 2012 Autism Awareness Classic, lived up to all the hype that was placed upon the game.  After finding themselves in an early hole, Marion County used a monstrous second quarter to get back in the game.  After a thrilling final half minute of play, sophomore Logan Powell connected on two free throws with just under three seconds left to seal the 63-61 win.


  • 2012 Autism Awareness Classic Results

    The 2012 Autism Awareness Classic is underway at MCHS. Results for the five games prior to the Lady Knights and Knights games to close out the Classic, will be posted here. The #1 and #2 girls teams in Kentucky are scheduled to square off at 6:30 P.M. tonight when the Lady Knights tangle with the Lady Crimson of DuPont Manual.

  • Knights Handle Eagles

    In their second matchup of the season, the Marion County Knights defeated the Campbellsville Eagles by a final score of 67-34.  All but two Knight players broke into the scoring column in the rout led by sophomore Clay Lanham with 10 points.

    With the win, the Knights move into a tie with Taylor County for the top spot in the district.

  • County services affected by MLK holiday

    Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 20. because this is a holiday for county employees, county services will be affected.

    There will be no garbage pick-up Monday. Instead, sanitation crews will run a double route on Tuesday. Residents are asked to put their trash out early on Tuesday for this reason.

  • Weekend basketball games remain on schedule

    Basketball games scheduled for tonight, Jan. 13, and tomorrow, Jan. 14, will go on as scheduled, Marion County High School Athletics Director Robby Peterson said.

    The Marion County boys are scheduled to host Campbellsville at 7:30 tonight.

    The Autism Awareness Classic will also be played Saturday at the Roby Dome. The Autism Awareness Classic, which includes seven games, will begin at 11 a.m.

  • Knights Game to be Played

    The Marion County Knights junior varsity/varsity basketball game against Campbellsville will be played tonight at the regularly scheduled time.  The JV team is set to begin at 6:00 P.M. with the varsity to follow.

  • Wilson wins Kentucky Distinguished Young Woman

    For the second consecutive year, Marion County's Distinguished Young Woman has become the Kentucky Distinguished Young Woman.

    Paige Wilson won the 2012 state program Saturday evening at the Singletary Center for the Arts in Lexington. Wilson will go on to represent the state in the national program later this year.

    Marion County's Christine Mattingly was the 2011 Kentucky Distinguished Young Woman.
